“Real change, enduring change, happens one step at a time.”
~ Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

When Ruth Bader Ginsburg enrolled as a law student at Harvard Law School, she was one of only eight female students in a class of over 500. Today, the landscape of legal academia is vastly different from the boys’ club the legal profession had been over 60 years ago.
According to statistics from a report by the American Bar Association’s Commission on Women, approximately 50% of all law students in the country are female. And while the weekly salaries of female attorneys are still on average, below their male counterparts, change is happening, even if only one step at a time.
During my time in law school, I was fortunate to come across several strong women in the legal profession, and whenever I felt discouraged, their stories were what motivated me, pushed me to the finish line until I too walked across a stage and accepted my J.D. at Carnegie Hall last summer.
Project Mansfield exists to empower, offer insight, and celebrate the accomplishments of women in the legal profession, because everyone should know by now, a woman’s place is in the courtroom.
